Season 1, Episode 1. Hello, Honey!

Little bit of controversy on this one.

I recently read an article where the Duchess of Sussex has someone out there trying to sue her over this recipe.
Wild, yes?
Read the full tea on that here, if you’d like.
And, before any of y’all get your own wild idea, I will quote the attorney for Intellectual Property Company, Cameron Stracher, here, then we can move on.
“There is nothing inherently dangerous about a mixture of salts, arnica oil, and essential oil. Thus, because the recipe for the bath salts that allegedly caused your injuries does not constitute a ‘clear and present danger’ to the public, you cannot pierce the First Amendment protections for speech by bringing a negligence claim against the entities that you threaten,” Stracher said.
All sorted? Let’s carry on then!
I love a nice bath salts soak. It honestly isn’t something I did often, but you can bet I had some salts on hand and ready to go following the completion of my St. Louis half marathon last year, in 2024.
And then, in the business of life, the ADHD pursuits of other battery-recharging activities, and who knows what else, I fell off that practice, so I am once again grateful to our Duchess for re-introducing the excitement and fulfillment of such an activity.

I’m sure you’ve already read my inaugural re-creation post, Cayenne Lemon Ginger Tea. Of course.
If not, do pop over there once you’ve wrapped up here!
I mention it there, but it bears repeating with intention on its own post, I had my inaugural attempt at this recipe from items already in my home. I made it for my dear friend, Merric, who was coming out for the first of what has been many chats about Mel Robbins’ book, Let Them.
Merric for sure got the full MegAnne, Duchess of Justin treatment that day. So many With Love… recipes!
I am sad to report, the epsom salts I used in my first batch are no longer in existence. If you’ll recall the legal drama (ooh, did I really only just make a Suits connection in this moment, this far into my writing?) at the top of this post, maybe there’s a reason this company shut down, and maybe it’s a good thing I’ve run through all those salts.

What I did love about them was the scent. Rejuvenating Citrus Mint, in a Muscle Soak created with Recovery in mind.
No worries! We can re-create that soak with our own recipe!
And also, items I already have in my own home, minus the dried florals the Duchess of Sussex used in the show. But hey, she’s growing them in her garden. She’s gonna get there, folks.
In my first attempt, I use the salts that came scented Citrus Mint. To those, I added lavender oil and salt from The Great Salt Lake (thanks, Ariane!) in absence of pink Himalayan salt, as Meghan used in this episode. Same same, but different, but close enough, yeah?
I added dried flowers to the silk tea bag for a little flourish, and Merric was on her way home with recovery bath salts following her next day’s Couch-To-5k training run. She also got a bigger set in her gift I made for her the day of the (canceled due to weather but we had a lovely morning in spite of the storms!) Fort Worth Zoo 5k. More on that when I write my post on gifting!

In my second rendition, because I’ve been better about making my own time for baths + incorporating it to my gifting practices and had to make more, I started with unscented Epsom salts. I added the same lavender oil as before, pink salt from The Great Salt Lake This time, I added some peppermint oil I had in the house and the same grapefruit and citrus oil I use when I’m meditating.
What a gorgeous concoction! The smell, y’all!
Duchess Meghan uses arnica oil. I’m cheap and keep not pulling the trigger on it, but if it’s as magical for bruises as she says, I so badly wish I could go back in time and have some on hand for when my fabulous first-born decided to start walking at 10 months.
The bruises, y’all. The bruises.
So, next iteration, I will suck it up and get me some arnica oil. I will do it. Hold me to it.
I’ve not ever really been much for baths, but as with so many things, The Duchess has me inspired. I’ve found it useful to have a mini fan nearby as I like it nice and toasty but simultaneously dislike sweating, so that’s been the nice balance for that.

Be sure to post here in comments or on my Insta, I would love to hear how you make the Epsom Salts your own!
